The Case for Action:

Black women are nearly 3 times more likely to die during childbirth than white women.

Black women's maternal mortality rates are estimated to be double those of rural white counterparts and roughly 30% higher than Black women in urban areas.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that 87% of maternal health deaths are preventable.

The Mission

Project SOAR’s B.R.I.D.G.E. Initiative is dedicated to ending the Black maternal health crisis in rural Georgia. By mapping local assets, expanding access to perinatal education, and driving regional data equity, we empower families, develop future community leaders, and build the infrastructure needed for lasting health equity.
