ECHO: Empowering Communities for Healthy Outcomes
Project Type: Research

ECHO—short for Empowering Communities for Healthy Outcomes—is a collaborative initiative led by Emory University and Morehouse School of Medicine. It focuses on addressing overdose, now a leading cause of death during pregnancy and the postpartum year in Georgia, especially in South Georgia. In partnership with local organizations, ECHO is building programs to support pregnant and postpartum women—and other birthing people—who use drugs. Over the next three years, the project will involve interviews with participants to better understand their health concerns, service needs, and the factors that shape them.
