Pillar #3: Interdisciplinary Professional Education to achieve Health Equity
We use existing and newly-developed curricula on implicit and explicit bias, and respectful care, making modifications as needed to tailor the program to case scenarios most often encountered with maternity care. We support providers to serve as local trainers for ongoing education, acting as a resource center to implement solutions based on community needs assessments. We support and train para-professionals (midwives, community health workers) for inter-professional collaboration. The Center aims to train and prepare perinatal care providers as they pursue clinical research careers in an academic department with targeted skills focused on clinical investigations in population health and health equity, while simultaneously refining clinical skills.
